What Is a 9012/HIR2 Headlight Bulb?
A 9012 HIR2 headlight bulb uses a PX22d base. The terms 9012 and HIR2 refer to the same bulb specification, so a bulb marked 9012/HIR2 fits applications that require either name.
A standard 9012 halogen bulb is usually rated at 12V and 55W. It is a single-light-source bulb, but the actual position depends on the vehicle. A 9012 bulb may be used for the low beam, high beam or daytime running light. Some projector assemblies use a mechanical shutter to produce both high and low beams from one light source.

What Cars Use 9012 Headlight Bulbs?

Do not force a different bulb into a 9012 socket or cut the locking tabs. The wrong bulb can cause poor fitment, loose connections and an uneven beam.

HIR2 is the direct equivalent of a 9012 bulb. H11, 9005 and 9006 are different sizes and should only be used when the vehicle or headlight manufacturer confirms compatibility.
Choose a 9012 LED bulb with accurate chip placement and an even beam pattern. A clear cutoff and controlled glare are more important than a high lumen number alone.
It depends on the space behind the headlight. Check that the bulb, cooling fan, driver and connector fit inside the housing without preventing the factory dust cover from closing.
Turn off the vehicle, remove the dust cover and unplug the original bulb. Twist the old bulb counterclockwise to remove it, align the new 9012 LED bulb with the housing tabs and turn it clockwise until secure.
