The car you own is a reflection of your personality. When you look back at your car history you would discover a direct connection with times, the car you owned and the phase in your ever-evolving personality. The way we conduct ourselves tells something about us. Likewise, when it comes to automobiles, the choice of automobile, the choice of accessories and the time we spend on our wheels reveals details of our personality. To some, a vehicle simply is a mode of transportation to get their ass from point A to point B. To others, it’s their first love. You may own a Beetle or a red convertible, a pickup truck or a big minivan, your choice of wheels states a lot about you as a person. In the subconscious mind, we identify with elements that broadcast a personality that we hope to create for ourselves.
Car salespersons often use the line telling us that a car is or isn’t “really you.” It’s more often used just as a convenient sales pitch, but why? There’s definitely some truth in your car is an extension of you. To understand we shall take a look at luxury cars for example. They undoubtedly are the most expensive with special features not to be found in any ordinary car. Those who make big money get used to their luxurious lifestyles. This reflects even in their selection of car. Those who own luxury cars don’t care about practicality, fuel-efficiency or convenience as long as they possess what’s the epitome of luxury that elevates their celebrity status. Even within this class, the ones who ride in a Lincoln, a Rolls or a Jag are different in personality. It would take further and deeper analysis to construct each.
An SUV owner is passionate. He’s either someone who knows exactly what he wants and why, or he’s a complete jackass. They are also very good for safety with high ratings but not exactly off-roaders. Wannabes who believe they can make their own road, often end up getting stuck in the snow.
Muscle cars such as the old Firebird, Mustang, Camaro and Challenger show off a combination of gender identity, control, power and impulse control. The owner is a true car enthusiast who doesn’t care about the gas cost so long as gets those powerful sounds from the engine and exhaust and feels the power under his ass.
Minivans give you the best of both, an SUV and a sedan, balancing fuel economy and space. They are the family workhorse. Minivans are indicative of a caring guy who seeks the occasional escape with the nurturance.
Coupes or cars with a 2-door body and a permanently attached roof are indicative of couples with very young kids. The 2-door aspect becomes a safety feature to keep kids secure in the back seat. They also appear sportier, often proclaiming gender. They appeal to single women, and men looking for something sporty.
The 4×4 pickup truck owners are mostly workaholics who engage in towing, hauling and off-road duties. They need powerful engines and such vehicles are preferred by those who need to transport heavy stuff daily.
Sports car owners enjoy the attention. It reflects someone young and successful, man or woman.
So, let’s see what your cars have to say about you.
